you show up like a hurricane, all hungry-eyed and weather-stained
the clock forgets to tick and i the same
i died the day you disappeared, so why would you be welcome here?
ride the wind that brought you back away

Day 16: Favorite mother character
I have two. Many of these responses have two more answers. So hard to choose! :)
The first is Lorelai Gilmore from Gilmore Girls. Lorelai is funny, hard working, a friend when she needs to be but a Parent when she needs to be. She gives good advice, and I bet she gives good hugs. She always supported Rory and did her best to give Rory what she needed. I wish Lorelai was my mom. I wish I had someone like Lorelai in my life.
My second is Leandra from Dragon Age 2. Now, I like Lorelai as a person. Lorelai is someone I want to know in real life. Leandra is someone I like as a character, someone I’m happy to leave behind when I shut off the game. In large part, this is because Leandra reminds me of my own mother, my own complicated mother.
Leandra blames her eldest child, Hawke, for things that have gone wrong (“How could you let this happen to your little brother?”). She nags about Hawke’s friends (“Should you really be spending time with those elves?). She tries to meddle in Hawke’s romantic life (“So-and-so’s son is single”). Yet she clearly loves Hawke very much, and is very proud of her. In many ways, she feels more realistic to me than Lorelai…which is why I’d much rather know Lorelai!
